Studio Behind the Scenes

Here's a photo journal of what's been going on lately. All the in-betweens that I've stashed away amongst getting my book paintings done, retouched and turned them in (woot!!!). Also shouting out a some of my favorite book stores – thank goodness for these small businesses and all the ways they support authors and the communities they are in!

Stopped by Wild Rumpus Books to sign books and do an interview along with local authors in honor of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Paint palette mess is sometimes better than the final painting.

When the food I'm cooking . . . (Tandoori cauliflower from Meera Sodha's new cookbook Dinner)
. . . starts to match what I'm painting.
Big Hill Books hosted a local AAPI Creatives Celebration and it was a treat to join all these book creators for a Q&A and celebration.
Thrilled that two of my favorites book stores now carry some of my stickersWild Rumpus Books in Minneapolis and Black Bird Bookstore in San Francisco!
The painting process is humbling. Messing up and having to start over is part of the process.
Paper flower making for a couple of my favorite people.
Galette #2 of the season for a very special guest. Mango-strawberry. (Smitten Kitchen's Any-Kind-of-Fruit Galette)
Taking a color class with the lovely artist Lindsay Stripling. Learning about the feelings behind the colors that I'm drawn to (purple is not one but I learned some bits and pieces about what I might like about it).
